We are about halfway through the body shapes and I have learned a lot about fashion and what to wear. Today I am sharing tips for the Inverse Triangle body shape, but if you missed the last two body shapes, you can click here, Apple & Pear).
So let’s refresh, the Inverse Triangle shape characteristics are:
- Narrow waist and hips
- Broader shoulders
- Your best asset are your Legs!
The goal is to soften up the upper body while accentuating the lower body!
So here are a few do’s and dont’s to consider when you select your outfits for your portrait session.
Do’s:
- Wear volume added clothing to increase your narrow hips to help offset your broad shoulders.
- Wear soft, drapey and weighty fabrics to soften your shoulders.
- Wear light or bold colors worn as a skirt or pants.
- Wear nipped jackets, tops and sweaters to fake curved hips and make your waist look smalled and defined.
- Wear boot cut, flare and wide leg jeans and pants.
Do Not’s:
- Do not wear anything with a strong shoulder details.
- Avoid necklines that make you broader on top, i.e big straps, halterneck tops, big schawl collars.
- Styles that extend or accentuate shoulders, i.e details, volume
- Patterns on top, scarves around your neck or shoulders.
- Clutch bags
- Petite footwear
