Charlottesville holds a special place in Marissa and David’s heart as it is where they had their first date. It only made sense to have their engagement session there at King Family Vineyards with the mountains as their backdrop! These two met a little over 3 years ago. Marissa had just moved to Charlottesville fresh out of undergrad for graduate school at The University of Virginia.
Marissa and David met online and had been talking for a few days when they decided to go on their first date as an Asian Tapas restaurant. They talked for hours about all sorts of topics and continued the date at a bar and ended the night walking around Downtown Charlottesville. They were both nervous but it seems their nerves both settled as they became comfortable with one another.
Marissa claims she knew she was going to marry David only two months after their first date. Whereas David also recalls knowing early on but isn’t as specific on the date. They found company in one another at UVA football games, concerts, breweries, and intermingling friend groups. It’s almost as if these two were a match made in Charlottesville!
A little more than three years after their first date, David asked Marissa to marry him. Marissa’s family goes to the beach for Thanksgiving each year, typically Emerald Isle or Atlantic Beach area in North Carolina. Last year Marissa and David decided to invite his family from Texas to join the beach trip. David felt like the opportunity was too good to pass up and the perfect time to propose.
The morning of the proposal, David mentioned to Marissa that his mom wanted to do family holiday photos on the beach later in the afternoon and to wear something nice. Marissa didn’t think anything of it as it was not out of the ordinary for David’s mom to want to take photos. They both got ready, went to a biergarten before meeting up with family for photos. Little did Marissa know, the ring was in David’s sunglass case!
Family photos were going well. Both families were getting photos and then it was time for David and Marissa to get photos of just the two of them! David knelt down on one knee and proposed with both families in attendance. Marissa recalls David being nervous, but also very happy and did it perfectly even though he’ll tell you he didn’t make much sense! Marissa cried (alot). The ring was perfect, families being there was perfect, and the entire night afterwards was perfect!
Needless to say, Marissa’s ring is timeless and classic and absolutely perfect! David did such a wonderful job picking out the ring that fits Marissa perfectly! I can’t wait to celebrate these two getting married in October!
