Lee and Ben hold a special place in their love story for Lee’s family farm in Delaplane which is why it was perfect for their engagement session. Now only is it where Lee grew up and Ben began “courting” her, those are her words. But it is also where Ben proposed and she said yes!
These two have been together for two and a half years and still laugh at how nervous Ben was on their first date. Chop Stick Cafe in Winchester was where they had their first date. Lee still recalls how Ben’s nervousness didn’t get any better on the second date when he told all the same funny stories that he had told on their first date. Ben’s tactics worked because Lee really liked him from the get go.
Last December, Ben popped the question and they now have a new anniversary to celebrate, December 28th! Lee admits she isn’t good with surprises and knew Ben was going to propose but didn’t know when. Ben, Lee and her family went to the Christmas light maze at Nationals Park in DC where Ben had planned to propose but admits there were too many people.
Lee noticed Ben wasn’t himself when they got to back to her family farm and suggested a walk to clear their heads. She knows Ben loves the stars and on the farm you can see them so well. When they reached the highest point, Ben started to feel better and more relaxed.
He got down on one knee, after checking for no cow pies and had a speech prepared. Lee recalls he talked about their relationship and wanting to move on to their future. 2019 was coming to a close and he wanted to start the new decade with Lee by his side. Lee began to cry so hard that the next day Ben asked if she had said yes. She did, only to clarify, the tears were happy tears!
Ben proposed to Lee with a family heirloom that was passed down from his grandmother. It’s a beautiful emerald unlike anything I have seen before. Their story is so sweet and I can not wait for their wedding in September!
